"United Defense came under investigation after creating the UP9 in 2002. Shady business practices aside, the company created a cheap, low quality gun that quickly flooded the criminal arms market. Despite lawsuits, the weapon is still in production and its favorited by lowlifes and gangs. It may not be dependable, but it's cheap, easy to get, and easy to conceal. Good enough, right?"

Summary[]

The UP9 is one of the many weapons available to operatives in Entry Point. It costs $1,400 to purchase and $50 to deploy on a mission. Additionally, the Stock UP9 can be deployed for $250, which comes equipped with a suppressor.

The UP9 is about as standard as pistols get, with a cheap price tag and a low caliber. It is easy to handle and even easier to hide, making it a useful backup weapon and a staple for stealth missions.

The UP9 shares its ammo type with the S97, which is a weapon used by more enemies than not. This makes finding ammo for it very easy.

Overview[]

While the UP9 may appear cheap and ineffective at first glance, statistics aren't everything. It may not do much damage, but what it does excel at are speed and handling. With low recoil and solid magazine size, its ability to perform rapid follow-up shots is unmatched by any other pistol.

Of course, the UP9 also has a couple of disadvantages that should be taken into account. With some of the lowest raw damage of all weapons (tied with the S97 for the lowest single shot damage in the game), enemies will often not be killed with a single headshot. Range is also a critical weakness of the UP9, and when faced with snipers and distant targets, this weapon's damage falls off by a lot.

With this pistol's strengths and weaknesses taken into account, it is worth considering as it can be used for any stealth mission and can hold its own to some extent if things go loud. The UP9 is a simple, cheap weapon that excels at stealth, but performs mediocre otherwise.

Pros[]

  • Lowest deployment cost of $50.
  • The low recoil, extremely tight spread, high firerate, and fast reloads can negate the low damage-per-shot to an extent with a good trigger finger.
  • Easily refillable.
  • Easily concealed.

Cons[]

  • Low range.
  • Weak penetration.
  • Burns through ammo fast if not careful.
  • Low damage.

Damage Breakpoints[]

Below are various tables showing how much extra damage is needed to kill various standard units in a certain number of shots on Legend difficulty without damage falloff. Values shown are for when unsuppressed/suppressed.

Modifications[]

The UP9 is capable of equipping most attachments while still maintaining concealment, so it is generally a good idea to choose a setup that reflects this. A suppressor and some simple iron sights can go a long way for this weapon.

Sight[]

  • Iron Sights - The plain iron sights of the UP9. They're definitely usable in close quarters.
  • Glow Sight - Iron sights that have been illuminated with three white dots, making it easier to aim at targets.
  • Ring Sight - Closed iron sights, featuring a thin red ring and front post for added precision.
  • Mini Sight (+1) - Miniature 1.3x sight with a small red dot, granting a clear view of the target.
  • Delta Sight (+1) - Miniature 1.5x sight with a thick delta dot, granting a clear view of the target.

Barrel[]

  • Flash Hider (+2) - Eliminates the muzzle flash from the weapon. This lowers the threat of the weapon, but also causes spread to reset slower.
  • Muzzle Brake (+1) - A pistol compensator that reduces recoil, at the cost of spread increasing faster and increased maximum spread.
  • Suppressor (+2) - A slim suppressor that eliminates the sound and muzzle flash of the weapon. This lowers the threat of the weapon more than the Flash Hider and slightly improves damage and recoil, but increases maximum hipfire spread. Suppressed gunshots won't raise the alarm but can still cause people to look in your direction if they're too close.
    • The Stock UP9 comes equipped with a suppressor.

Tactical[]

  • Flashlight - A bright light that can be turned on to illuminate dark areas.
  • Laser - A red laser that can be turned on to make shooting from the hip more precise, decreasing hipfire spread.

Trivia[]

  • The UP9 is based on the CZ75 pistol. It was named CZ75 during the early versions of the game but was renamed later on.
  • Guards, police officers, and shield SWAT originally used the UP9 as their pistol of choice before it was replaced by the K45 on June 4th, 2019.
    • This is the reason guards have twelve shots before having to reload, instead of the eight that the K45 has.
  • The Stock UP9 used to be free and if you equipped it into your second weapon slot, it would not come with a suppressor attached.
