Halcyon is a criminal organization located primarily in Canada and led by The Director. They have operations and personnel all around the globe both in urban and remote locations and their jobs range from contracts and heists to raids and kidnappings.

Overview[]

Halcyon is the first organization introduced in Entry Point. Initially, it is The Freelancer's main employer, they spend multiple years working for them, completing missions under the coordination of Wren and Rose.

In Storyline[]

1987[]

  • Halcyon is founded in Toronto, Ontario by Kingfisher and his 5 conspirators.
  • First known Halcyon operation in the United States, a corporative executive was assassinated in order to affect the stock market.

1989[]

  • Halcyon expands its operations overseas.

1994[]

2004[]

  • Rose and Wren join Halcyon and begin being trained by Jackdaw.
  • Amanda Moss, a director of Halcyon, is killed in a car accident likely caused by Jackdaw.

2005[]

  • Paul Nikitin, a director of Halcyon, dies due to a heart attack likely caused by Jackdaw.

2006[]

  • After a falling out with Steel Cove leadership and being on the run, Falcon is recruited to Halcyon.

2007[]

  • Vincent Zhao, another director of Halcyon is killed in a plane crash likely caused by Jackdaw.
  • Kingfisher orders Jackdaw to kill the other two directors of Halcyon, Daisuke Matsuda and Karina Levin, who are meeting at Trinity Bellwoods. Jackdaw completes the job, making Kingfisher, now known only as "The Director", the only director of Halcyon.
  • The Director sends Wren, Rose, and Jackdaw to assassinate Julien Moreau, a money launderer for Halcyon who stole 4.3 million for himself, and to destroy the bank he operates. The tertiary objective was to kill Jackdaw, however unbeknownst to Halcyon, Rose saved Jackdaw's life.

2011[]

  • A train derailment orchestrated by Jackdaw kills Halcyon's Lead Operations Coordinator. Wren is promoted to the position soon after.

2012[]

  • Black Dawn - Halcyon raids the Dawn Valley Defense Lab, however, their team is intercepted by Jackdaw during extraction who kills Pathfinder and Updraft but leaves Rose alive.
  • The Freelancer - The Freelancer is contracted in Arizona to recover police evidence about the Dawn Valley Defense Lab raid. They are later hired by Halcyon.
  • The Blacksite - Halcyon rescues one of their arrested operatives from a Steel Cove black site named "Wargate".
  • The Auction - A client has them retrieve a gem case after an American crime syndicate steals them and plans to sell them off at an auction occurring in one of Halcyon's money laundering banks in San Francisco.

2013[]

  • The Gala - Rose and Wren monitor the Freelancer's stealth training mission in one of Halcyon's newly constructed kill houses.
  • Rose and Wren are nearly assassinated by an unknown shooter in Seattle.

2014[]

  • The Financier - Halcyon infiltrates the home of Ryan Ross, one of Phoenix's financial investors, with the goal of obtaining intel on Phoenix. The Freelancer completes the mission successfully, but Ryan's fate after the mission is determinant.
  • Ashes - Unbeknownst to The Freelancer, a distraction by Rose allows Jackdaw to hold them at gunpoint, who then gives them a message to relay to The Director.

2015[]

  • The Deposit - A Phoenix asset stored in a bank in Cincinnati, Ohio is stolen by Halcyon.
  • The Lakehouse - Halcyon sends The Freelancer to infiltrate a Phoenix safe house in Michigan to retrieve the Project Onyx files. Steel Cove interrupt the mission but it is successful regardless.
  • Halcyon discovered Rose was a double agent working for Phoenix and sent out Falcon to assassinate her near Lake Erie.
  • Dedication - Halcyon attempts to assassinate The Freelancer as a precaution. However, Jackdaw kills Wren and saves The Freelancer.
  • The Withdrawal - Phoenix robs one of Halcyon's money-laundering banks in San Francisco.

2016[]

  • The Scientist - One of Halcyon's safe houses in Canada is raided by Phoenix to free defecting Halcyon scientist Celeste Rivera. All Halcyon operatives guarding the safe house, including Falcon, are found deceased.

2017[]

  • The SCRS - A secret CSIS facility is raided by Phoenix to get intel on a Halcyon bunker in Ontario. If the mission goes loud, Halcyon sends a gunship to stop The Freelancer.
  • In a coordinated strike occurring in 12 countries, Phoenix carries out bombings and strikes against Halcyon, which operatives claim was the end of the organization.
    • Black Dusk - In one of the bombings, The Freelancer destroys the bunker researching Project Onyx and is killed in the process.
  • Epilogue - The Director is killed by Jackdaw, which claims Phoenix's victory in the shadow war.
  • In a joint operation, the FBI and other intelligence agencies seize Halcyon's remaining assets around the globe. Some accounts are left in place to track activity.

2020[]

  • Halcyon accounts have laid dormant for over 2 years, and the FBI declares the organization defunct.

Trivia[]

  • Halcyon is likely named after a bird in ancient Greek mythology, which calms the seas in order to lay its eggs on a floating nest on the ocean.
    • The mythical birds Halcyon and Phoenix are commonly associated with water and fire, respectively, with both of those elements being polar opposites of each other, reflecting how the two organizations are at war.
    • The genus of tree kingfishers is also named after the Halcyon, relating to The Director's codename, Kingfisher, and fitting in with the rest of the pattern of bird names.
  • It was named "Pidgeon" during April Fools 2021, which is an old spelling of pigeon.
  • Aquamarine (A Playable Character in Operators) wears a Halcyon Uniform, it is unknown whether or not if he was in Halcyon before.
